WHY ?
Pathshala introduced Bachelor of Social Science in Photography a four-year undergraduate programme affiliated with the University of Dhaka. The programme consists of 32 courses and each course has four credits. Students need to complete a total of 128 credits for graduation. This programme is especially designed for the youths who are passionate about photography. Any student, who has required grades in their SSC and HSC, or O’Level and A’Level examinations, are eligible to apply for this degree.The students will explore a wide range of relevant contemporary theories which is designed to stimulate a critically engaged practice to prepare a range of related careers. Students will also gain cognitive and transferable skills necessary for lifelong personal and professional development.
The following modules are covered Techniques of Photography, History of Photography, Darkroom Practice, Creative writing, Photojournalism, Introduction to Visual Art, Visual Anthropology, Studio Photography, Media & Culture, Documentary Photography, Economics, Introduction to Communication, Portrait, New Media Studies, Gender Studies, Propaganda, Public art & Social Activism, Art History, Research Methodology, Curatorial Practice, Design, Publishing and Alternative Printing and Personal Project.
Eligibility
A candidate having at least 12-year schooling from relevant discipline can apply for undergraduate admission, if s/he can satisfy any of the following conditions:1. S/he has a minimum GPA of 2.5 at both SSC and HSC levels.
2. S/he has a GPA of less than 2.5 at SSC or HSC level, but the combined GPA at both levels is at least 6.0 provided that GPA at any level is not less than 2.0.
3.S/he is a ward of freedom fighter(s), and the combined GPA at SSC and HSC levels is at least 5.0 but not less than 2.0 at any level.
4.S/he has a minimum GPA of 2.5 in four subjects at “O” level and 2.5 in two subjects at “A” level in the scale of A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, and E=1.
Admission Test
